Chief complaint : Both wirst pain for 1 month


 


History : No recent trauma history.


  Symptom developed after heavy lift job


               Dancing group in high school

Question : Bilateral scaphoid fracture  or Normal variation ?





Findings:


             Bilateral fragmentation of scaphoid


             Clear surrounding cortex

Persistence and progressive development of the primordium of an os centrale, a carpal bone of the manus of submammalian forms, represented by a discrete cartilage in human fetus, which normally disappears


 


Most probably, tow centers of ossification and failure of normal union

Bipartite scaphoid, with cartilaginous surface between the fragments, does occur


 


Abnormal joint maybe the seat of arthritis


 


Knowledge of this anomalous development of scaphoid is important to both radiologist and surgeon.
