Diagnosis: Intradural arachnoid cyst
Discussion
Findings
1. CT findings:
about 1.4x2.1cm sized low density lesion in ventral intradural exramedullary space
2. MRI findings:
non-enhancing Intradural cystic lesion at level of T7
- posteriorly displacing and compressing the spinal cord
- lower SI on diffusion weighted image to the CSF
- no diffusion restriction
Discussion
CSF-filled sacs contained by the arachnoid mater
-Acquired origin(trauma, infection, surgery) > congenital
-Location: Mostly dorsal to the cord
Thoracic(80%) > cervical(15%) > lumbar(5%)
-Most are asymptomatic
-Symptoms caused by spinal cord/nerve root compression
- may be exacerbated by postural changes/Valsalva maneuver
