De Quervain’s disease



Discussion



 



Findings: Fluid
collection around the tendon slips is noted within the first extensor
compartment. Longitudinal US scan shows thickened tendon sheath and extensor
retinaculum with increased vascularity in the swollen tendon.  



 



Differential Diagnosis: Longitudinal tear of APL tendon



 



Diagnosis:
De Quervain’s disease



 



Discussion: De
Quervain’s disease is stenosing tenosynovitis of abductor policis longus (APL)
and extensor pollicis brevis (EPB) tendons in first extensor compartment of the
wrist due to thickening of extensor retinaculum.
